Mary C. Timmons

 

Mary C. Timmons, 100, a resident of St. Mary’s Home of Erie, East, died Thursday, November 16, 2006. She was born in Elk Creek Twp. on January 1, 1906, a daughter of the late John R. and Emma Peffer Timmons. Mary graduated from Edinboro High School, Edinboro Normal School and the University of Pittsburgh School of Education. She was a teacher in Erie County Schools for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of Erie County School Retirees, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, National Retired Teachers, Woman’s Club of Erie, Saint Vincent Health Center Auxiliary and Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Center Auxiliary. She also had volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul J., Joseph B. and James D. Timmons. Survivors include nine nieces and nephews: Eileen Sherred of Fairview, Patrick J. Timmons and Anne Diaz of Calif., John M. Timmons of Ark., Robert G. Timmons of N. M., Marie C. Timmons, SSJ and Elizabeth Stoner of Erie, Margaret McCrarey of Fairview and Kathleen Schwartz of Fla. and several grand nieces and nephews. Friends may call at St. Mary’s Home Chapel, 607 East 26th St., Tuesday from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville. Memorials suggested to St. Mary’s Home of Erie, 607 E. 26 St., Erie 16504; Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Pl., Erie 16507 or to the charity of ones choice.
