- What I have done, etc
- After graduation I worked at Bliley
Electric Company. I married Dave Seidl, a
1955 McDowell graduate, December 1957. He
enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and was sent to
Sembach Air Force Base, Germany for his first duty
station. I joined him there and while there we
traveled throughout Germany, France, Italy, Holland,
Austria and Switzerland. We have a daughter and
son who were both born in Germany.
We returned to the states in 1962 with an assignment
to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls,
Montana. We have a daughter who was born there
in 1963.
From Montana Dave got an assignment to Kadena Air
Force Base in Okinawa. We lived there from 1964
to 1967. I began working for the federal
government (Department of the Air Force) in 1965.
After being in Okinawa for three years we were
assigned to Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage,
Alaska. We visited friends in California and
Montana before driving up the Alaska Highway. I
took the first year in Alaska off from working then
got a job with the Department of the Air Force as an
editorial assistant editing government
publications. While in Alaska, Dave received an
assignment to Vietnam (1970-1971). I chose to
move back to Erie for the year. When he returned
from Vietnam he was assigned to San Antonio,
Texas. We all moved there and I continued
working for the Department of the Air Force at
Lackland Air Force Base for the Officer Candidate
Training School. I processed the paperwork for
attendees at the school. I also worked at the
Wilford Hall Medical Center. We lived in San
Antonio for five years.
In 1975, Dave received an assignment to the Pentagon
in Washington, DC. We moved to Woodbridge,
Virginia. I continued working and worked for the
Department of the Army at Davison Army Airfield in
Virginia; The Pentagon; the Federal Emergency
Management Agency; The White House; and the Office of
Personnel Management. While working for The White
House I worked for a Special Assistant to President
Ronald Reagan for the Domestic Policy Council.
Our office was in the Old Executive Office Building
next door to The White House.
I retired with 31 years of government service in
1999. Then we moved from Virginia to York,
Pennsylvania, to be close to family. Our oldest
daughter and her family live in York. Our son
lives in Cannonsburg, PA, and youngest daughter lives
in Virginia just a three hour drive from us. We
have four grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. I volunteered with our
local Catholic Harvest Food Pantry for many years and
we were members of a local square dance group until
age caught up with us. I still bowl in a league
every week, and we still travel a lot.
